I love this picture from dad's funeral, the men from American Legion Post 200 folding the flag that was draped over the casket, and in the background his grandson , Joshua, one of the preachers at the funeral! Photo credit to Lauren Logan

Thanks to my dad, Gene Franklin, and others who served our country in time of war. Dad was in the Navy from 1944-1946, during World War II. This video tribute sung for the Ten Tenors..."Here's to the Heroes"
Tracing our ancestry recently, we learned that one my grandfather Charles Clinton Franklin's brother Private John P Franklin was killed in action, Feb 19, 1919, during WWI.
I found a couple old photos of my dad and his brother when they were in the service back in the 1940's.
Pictured at left is my uncle Lawrence Franklin and below my dad, Gene Franklin. I know my dad was 18 when he joined in 1944 and served two years until 1946. My grandfather Charles Clinton Franklin died in early 1946 while dad was still in the Navy, so he missed the funeral.
